Assessment
Assessment in education relates to some type of performance.
This could be teacher performance in the classroom or it may be student
performance in a particular curricular area or it may be a self-check
to confirm that the individual has an understanding of what is being taught.
Are you assessing student performance, teacher performance, or are students
doing self-assessments? All are very important to improving student achievement.
The teacher's performance in the classroom will have an impact on the
student performance which must be assessed by the teacher. But the students
must take ownership of their own learning and assess themselves to confirm
their understanding of subject matter. There are many tools to assist
in all forms. The list below is just an example of what is available for
use on the handheld. For more indepth information on assessment visit
the links at the left.
No Child Left Behind Legislation focuses on accountability
and thus makes assessment even more crucial. To have a better understanding
of the NCLB legislation as it relates to assessment and the use of technology,
we have provided some presentations on the left for your use.
To better manage the use of handhelds and to control
the data moving to and from the computer and the handhelds, information
on the left provides food for thought when trying to determine how you
will manage your use of handhelds in the classroom and school district.
